This past weekend was the D23 Destination D: Amazing Adventure in Orlando, Florida. This event is a two-day expo that took place at the Contemporary Resort. Every year there is an expo on each cost for Disney fans. These Expos are where all significant announcements are made for the parks and films. Typically the bigger and more star-studded announcements come at the more major event; the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California. Tickets for the California show this summer are on sale now at a reduced price through December 31, 2016. Prices will increase after that date. The Expo will take place July 14-16, 2017. There were quite a few new announcements made this past weekend so let’s jump right into those.

- AVATAR Flight of Passage— an awe-inspiring flight on a banshee that offers incredible views of Pandora Land.
- Na’vi River Journey— A family-friendly river ride that is hidden within the bioluminescent rainforest.
- Satu’li Canteen – The restaurant offered in Pandora – The World of AVATAR featuring the art and cultural items of the Na’vi people.
- Windtraders – This merchandise location is where travelers can find Na’vi cultural items, toys, science kits and more.
- Pongu Pongu – A specialty drink spot with a design that is as eclectic as its expat owner.
An all-new event has been added to Epcot starting at the beginning of the year! For six weekends starting January 13 through February 20, 2017, guests can experience the Epcot International Festival of the Arts. Bringing together visual, culinary and performing arts; it is sure to be a trifecta of global masterpieces! Each weekend Fridays-Mondays guests can enjoy a different pairing of extraordinary Broadway talent in concert singing the award-winning music of Disney on Broadway. Plus, they’ll love trying new delicious creations that look almost too beautiful to eat.
Images were released this weekend to give us all an idea of what Star Wars Land will look like when the sun goes down. As you can see in the below image, it reveals a peek at what guests will discover including one of the most anticipated attractions— the Millennium Falcon. I was lucky enough to get a quick glimpse behind the scenes last month when I visited Hollywood Studios with a Disney VIP tour. I can confirm that the construction of the both the Star Wars Land and Toy Story Lands are well on their way as well as Disneyland park expansions.
Another new Star Wars addition that we will see in the parks relatively soon is the update to the attraction Star Tours— The Adventures Continues. Walt Disney Imagineering and Lucasfilm teams are in production to add an adventurous new mission to the ride based on elements from the newest Star Wars Episode VIII.
A new store is coming to Disney Springs on November 23, 2016! D-Living is the ultimate home décor store for Disney fans and kids alike. Here, guests will find an eclectic assortment of Disney-themed seasonal products. For the holiday season, this signature store will look and feel just like a charming home on Christmas morning. Every room, and around every corner, guests will find a lovely selection of Disney-inspired housewares, furnishings, and décor sure to make every home magical and bright.
New MagicBands announced this weekend! There hasn’t been an exact date released for when they will be switching to latest models, but it sounds like it will be within the next couple of months. The technology in the band remains the same it will still act as your room key, park tickets, FastPass+ access, Disney Photo Pass, and will also still link to your My Disney Experience account. The main difference in the update as you can see below is the design of the band itself. The new design was created for more versatile and customizable experiences. The RDIF chip inside the Mikey Circle can now come out and can be placed into a different device so if you don’t like wearing a wristband you can purchase a key chain holder, or an attachment for your lanyard so you can always have your MagicBand with you without wearing it on your wrist. The redesign was a push to allow guests to innovate and personalize their vacation experience.
I hope you all have a happy Thanksgiving! More holiday news will be out later this week.
“See you real soon!”
